I remember one list member saying that MB still makes their own rebuilds
at a factory in Canada. To me it seems like that would be the best bet
considering how frequently I've seen on here that most shops can't
rebuild this transmissions well.

Mercedes Forum members post good results with shops here
http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforum/forumdisplay.php3?f=14 . Likely
you can find someone in your area.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] TRANSMISSION HELP
DEAR SEC MEMBERS,
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A RELIABLE, HONEST AND QUALIFIED
TRANSMISSION SHOP IN THE SOUTH FLORIDA AREA?? MY '91 560 SEC IS LOSING
REVERSE. IT STARTED OUT JUST SLIPPING IN A LITTLE LATE BUT NOW IT'S
BARELY ENGAGING, ESPECIALLY WHEN HOT .
SOUTH FLORIDA (I'M IN THE FT. LAUDERDALE AREA) IS SUCH A HAVEN
FOR "SHARKS" , SO TO SPEAK. IT'S VERY HARD TO FIND A TRUSTWORTHY
MERCEDES MECHANIC.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN COME UP WITH!
KIM C.
