My 1987 lower ones had to be replaced too.
I think, because my car was only used on LA streets.

The parts guy at my local dealer says he has never sold the bottom
sliders (though I don't know if he meant just for a 380 or not). He's
worked there since before the W126 came out, so it's not like he's new
or something either. So, I'm guessing there's not need.

I think the 9 hours is included the bottom sliders.
When that has to be done, the engine has to be taken out.
