[W126 Coupe] HELP! resistor vs. non resistor plugs

Bellamy,
I have been told that it is valve seals. However, I don't think the
mechanic checked compression. The plugs that are the most fouled are the
front 3 plugs on the right (passenger) side. Sometimes (1 out of 4-5
starts) on startup after the car has been sitting overnight, I get tapping
for a second or two. It does not happen again later in the day.

Tom;

Sorry, I didn't state that well. The .032 is recommended. Some people
believe that a wider gap will help delay fouling out if oil consumption is a
problem. I'd suggest .035 if you want to try it, but not .045 because I
think you'll just be taking them all out again right away. That's all.

Have you checked your compression? Do you figure your problem is rings or
valves (valves or stem seals)? Or has it happened just once and could be
the three (?) plugs themselves?

Depending on how much you drive, and how quickly the plugs foul, you might
consider just having extra plugs and switch them out when performace
declines. You CAN clean and gap the ones you take out and hold them as
spares again if you don't have access to new ones. But generally spark
plugs are pretty cheap and the cost of always having a spare complete set is
nothing compared to the trouble of changing them.
