Ian makes a super important point.
Never use house wire under the hood.
Auto-electric wire has a vinyl sheathing that is meant
to resist high temperature, corrosive chemicals and UV.
Also, auto wire must be stranded, not solid to resist
fatigue from vibration.

To add to this, DO NOT use house hold wire in your automobile wiring. It
will eventually fatigue and break. Use only high quality automotive wiring.
