often mounted end of the dash, in dash near the air vents or up near the 
sunroof
about 1 cm diamter, 1.5 cn long, look like little speakers
very common in UK cars where alarms / immobiliser we needed for insurance
Is your car a UK import by any chance ????

500SEC 1989 ( 105000 miles - back in Queensland Australia !!!! )
190D 2.5 diesel 1989 ( 45000 miles - cause optimax costs £GBP 1.02 = approx 
$AUD 2.50 !!! )
  BTW I am getting so much grief over here about us losing the ASHES wish I 
was back home in OZ
