[W126 Coupe] Propane fuel?

Besides the 87 560SEC, I have an 87 560SEL. Its the SEL that would make
an interesting engineering challenge to see if it would work satisfactorily.
It would be fun to see if the car is dual-fueled, how much extra power would
be available by running both rather than either. Either would be
interesting, dual could be surprising.

I find it hard to understand any discussion for converging an SEC to LPG,
which reminds me of the rich-Turkish-guy-living-in-Belgium incident. This
guy buys a brand new Ferrari and weeks later he contacts the factory asking
for guidance for an LPG conversion for the car. The Ferrari guys respond
surprisingly quick; they ring his bell the next day with a briefcase and buy
the car back from him, saying they will not let the brand name Ferrari to be
insulted like that!
We in Istanbul have to pay 160 US for a tankful just like Talbir in the UK
(almost triple what you pay out there in the States), but I will never
consider an LPG conversion. If and when I become that keen on gas/petrol
cost, I will quit driving my SEC, or any other 8-cylinder 2-ton car for that
matter....
A litlle respect for our precious cars, please...

LPG conversions for SECs
My son Jason sent me this.
He's one of our lurkers, now that he's the owner of my SEC.

Here is a website that sells propane conversion kits for just about any car.
I see you talking on the list and its easier for me to send to you so they
know who its coming from. I actually emailed this place and here are the
kits
4 kits for the Mercedes 560SEC
Kit with 90 lt. cylinder tank £768.00 or kit with 70 lt. Spare wheel
replacement tank £813.00
or
Full Gas injection kit £1682.00 with 90 lt. cylinder tank or kit with 70 lt.
Spare wheel replacement tank £1727.00
Kind of pricey, we think one could be duplicated for less. There have in the
past been tax credits for this conversion, essentially a subsidy, they may
still be in place. The huge SEC trunk could probably hold a very large tank,
without removing the gas tank or loosing much trunk space.
