David,

You wrote the following when writing about diesel
engines:

As far as recommended synthetic oils, I would highly
recommend AMS-OIL Series 3000, which are specifically
designed for diesel engines. (Series 2000 is made for
gas engines). This company, which is based in
Superior, Wisconsin, claims they were the first to
make synthetics back in the early 70's, that their oil
produces almost 40-50% less wear on an engine than the
next best (Mobil One), and that you can drive for
approximately 35,000 miles before needing an oil
change. This oil is purportedly used as the premium
oil for racing (NASCAR?) and purportedly protects your
engine while helping sealing up slightly worn seals
and gaskets.

While I would always recommend regular oil changes
just to remove any of the wear and tear debris,
AMS-OIL claims you don't need to change your oil for
"1 year or 35,000 miles, whichever comes first". If
you flush the engine with AMS-OIL flush, supposedly,
you can get out all the gunk that you would normally
need to remove from traditional oil changes, thereby,
increasing the oil change interval.

While any of these claims may be pure marketing, this
brand of oil has been recommended to me by numerous
people. This is all I know about this oil and have
not tried it yet. You may look into it and seek the
advice of others on this forum.

Cheers.
