Hi Tom:

If the belt is at the correct tension, it is possible that the noise could
be the clutch on the front of the compressor.  This is a little tricky but,
if you can find a wooden stick held to your ear, carefully place it on the
side of the compressor and then as close as you dare to the moving clutch to
see if the noise gets louder.
