Rob;
The pricing sounds high to me. But I must admit that I have a HUGE mental
block around transmission shops.... heard too many horror stories.
I will be getting a price myself next week for a Mercedes Benz Canada
rebuilt transmission (exchange) from Toronto. I had a price for one (380SE)
a few months ago of $3,400 installed (abt $2,900 US) +tax. A Mercedes
Canada Rebuilt incorporates all of the factory transmission updates and is
warranteed.
I deal frequently with a small Mercedes Benz shop owned and run for the past
ten years by a couple of factory trained ex Dealer mechanics. I'll see if I
can get a breakdown; the transmission price and the labour, but I believe
the labour (R&R) is abt $600.
