Bruce, 
There was much discussion recently about batteries. I never weighed in with
a comment because of Hurricane Rita and I'm only recently back on line after
5 weeks. 
I use the sears Die-Hard 31249 International Series Maintenance Free, also
know as the
D28 - M31249.
This may be the best battery that I've ever used including the Optima Spiral
Core. 
I can't kill this thing. after 5 years and  months of the car sitting in
airport parking lots. 

This sears number may have been superseded by the listing below. 
The battery case size that fits an MB 126 coupe is D-28
