Halon extinguishers are no longer permitted in the EU. If they are already
installed, there is no legislative requirement to replace them immediately.
Refilling of Halon extinguishers is not allowed beyond the end of 2002 and
they must be decommissioned and disposed of safely by the end of 2003.
Certain military, aviation and police requirements are exempt from this
legislation. Chubb can facilitate the safe removal and disposal of all Halon
extinguishers and extinguishing systems.
Important dates to remember:
31st December 1993 - manufacture of Halon banned
31st December 2002 - no system can be recharged with Halon
31st December 2003 - all Halon systems must be decomissioned

The manufacture of Halon has been banned since January 1994 in response to
the Montreal Protocol. Chubb has developed a Halon Management Service to

Well that's nice (note though they are not available through a US dealer as
they were never approved for use in the US). Has anybody figured a way to
mount a fire extinguisher to the driver's seat rails? None of the universal
mounts go wide enough.

If you are referring to the halon extinguisher mounted on the front of
the driver's seat... the bracket/holder is unique to the specific make
(German) of extinguisher, the extinguishers are refillable, they are likely
available through the Dealer, and if so, they likely cost your left
testicle. Try to find a European parts car.
