Mike R.,
Michael please think about this, are you positive that you wish to have a
petty immature discussion with me about virtually nothing in public?
My friend, the people who read this are almost as focused (anal) about their
babies (SEC's) as you, and due to you sharing your knowledge we are all
richer not merely in information but knowing you.
As you know I refuse to be nice to anyone, ergo do not accept this as if I
have stated nice things about nor to you!

MB predicted people would get overwattage bulbs and makes relays for the
cars? I know Daniel Stern also sells 40amp Hella relays (could have sworn he
told me Bosch but I just checked the website and it says Hella), so you if
you are going to be ordering from him anyways, might as well also get the
relays from him.

I'm running the 90/130's in my Euro's right now..haven't upgraded the
wiring/relay yet but plan on it. I've left the back of the lights off in an
effort to keep things a bit cooler..I have also been checking the wiring
daily and feeling the wires to see if they feel overly warm/hot.. So far so
good, but I don't keep the high beams on but for a minute or two w/o
dropping to low for a bit..
I can get the part #'s from my black coupe on the relays so give a ring if
you like, I have the car w/ me today.

Just wanted to get a feeling as to the lists thoughts regarding a manual for
their 560SEC.
I've been chatting w/ some engineer/machinist/parts supplier/trans am crew
chief friends and am thinking of moving ahead on putting together a kit to
install a 6 or 5 spd manual in our cars...
Or, if people like we'll install it as well.
I plan on using as many Genuine Mercedes parts as possible, but am looking
to a tremec or Jericho 5 spd...maybe a Gm 6 spd if I can find one w/
suitable ratios.
Before we dive into this I'd like to get a feel to interest and what
people's cut off for cost might be..as well as any other words of wisdom.

While I don't have an SEC (or money), if I did have those things (heck
even if I just had money and had already put my plan into action on my
380) I would love a 5 spd (6 if the 6th was strictly a cruising gear,
i.e. 1st and 2nd weren't ridiculously short to account for all 6 gears)
and my cut off would be 8 grand.

I have an '85 Euro and the P.O. put 85W H4's in mine. I didn't know this
until one of my headlights started going dim. Turns out the bulbs were
overpowered and the heat was melting the connector. I had to replace the
connector and now have 65/55 H4's in there, and to be honest they are only
slightly less bright than the 85W's. I would suggest that if you are going
to use anything more powerful than the stock bulbs that you upgrade your
wiring as well.
Yours truly,

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Maximum bulb wattage for Bosch Euro Headlamps
Just to confirm a couple of questions before ordering H4 & H3 bulbs today
for (3) MB's with euro headlamp assemblies...
How do you order from Daniel Stern? They have no on-line order system or
do you Google for Narva and just buy anywhere???
Can I use the Narva 100/130 H-4's in the Bosch Euro assembly without
overheating the assembly or the factory wiring?
I am going to use the selective yellow H-3's on the (2) sedans at 55watts
since that seems to be the highest wattage with the yellow. I see there is
an option to go to 100watt but this is not selective yellow. If I use the
100watt H-3's in Bosch headlamp again, no harm to enclosure or wiring from
heat??
Thanks,
Dick
and I have no interest in the Xenon set-up.

Hi Doc,
Unfortunately, the stock MB muffler does not proceed beyond the ground
effects on the 86 AMG. Right now, the exhaust is being somewhat trapped
beneath the car. Not good. On the 83 I have, the muffler is discolored and
would be the ugliest thing on the car. If I can find someone to chrome it
for me, I would do that. I just want to approve the appearance on the 83
and prevent a health hazard on the 86.
Not big problems to be sure. Just something to make it nice.

Calvin,
After changing the exhaust on two of my SEC's I recognized that to make the
exhaust look as if it were a newer model I would have to cut the rear lower
portion of the body so the tips would fit as if they were "natural".
The gentleman that did the work on the car made sense when he said that why
change perfection?
Good luck with your decision,
Doc
Sincerely,
Calvin A.Young

My Austrian born MB mechanic is searching for a nice SEC. He has a very
clean 87 SEL daily driver to sell. We are in the Northern Virginia area. I
will add more and pictures to this post, Just wanted to get something on the
list quickly.
Also, the wife is strongly considering purchasing a 03 320 as a daily
driver. Any comments.

FYI on Fog lamps. I've done several tests with varying wattage and colours
for fog lamps. The only colour that works real good is AMBER, not yellow.
100 watt in a diffusing lens works very good in fog and heavy snow fall. You
can run with your main beams off and see through the snow/fog very well. Be
on the safe side and go with the heavier wire and relay. I'll say again h1/2
55 watt draw about 4.5 amps each, 100's about 7.5 each. Stay away from the
120/130 watt, very hot, about 10 amps each, and you don't get the bang for
the buck.

E-mail him (products at danielsternlighting.com) saying I want to buy some
bulbs, he'll send you back a form e-mail telling you how you can order via
phone or e-mail.
I don't think Daniel will even sell you the 100/130's if you tell him you
have stock wiring. Get the narva rangepower +50's or do relay's and thicker
wires (IIRC the stock wiring is 16 guage.maybe 14) and get high wattage
bulbs (compared to regular H4's, the low beams are like 80w regular bulbs
(the high beams don't see big gains in intensity, but they do have much
further throw).
I don't think 100w white bulbs will be of any use in the fog at all.

Since the max allowed size is apparently small, you could also use
www.imageshack.us <http://www.imageshack.us/> and include a link in

I used exhaust tips from the supercharged Jag sedan (XJ-R??) Very aggressive

Anyone know where I can get some chrome muffler tips for my 126 cars. I
need them for the 86 560SEC and the 83 380 SEC.
I had to change out the mufflers on my 86 and the MB does not make chrome
tips for the 126 cars. I was also thinking of having the end of the 83
chromed since a lot of the pipe shows on that car.

My picture was 84k so the limit is likely still 100K. With the cursor where
you want the picture and under HTML format, Insert - Picture - From File,
then choose your picture off the HD.
Thanks for the nice words on the SEC.

I wish to know if anyone has access to Eibach springs. I have looked high
and low including calling Eibach in Germany and I am unable to purchase
additional springs. Eibach has stopped the manufacturing of the springs and
no matter how much I begged, whined and whimpered they actually did not give
in to my wishes and make just a few more.
I also must say that one of my cars (with Eibach springs) handles
wonderfully EXCEPT for the fact that it rides like a truck! When I added
rather firm tires and took it out on the road it seemed as if every spec of
dust I hit felt like a boulder.
OK I am old but I will tell you that a drive from Orange County California
to Las Vegas gets difficult at 120+ish when one drives through a portion of
the road that is not smooth. I state this merely as an idea not that I
would ever do such a thing!
Buy the H & R's you will be very happy! Ask Mike R. he has them on his car
and seems to love them.

Yes, many of us who lowered our cars have these springs, I think the other
choice is Eibach. I personally love them, makes the car handle much better.
Of course, I didn't just do the springs, I also put different wheels/tires
on to "complete the package", so to speak. Make sure you get the car
properly aligned after the springs are installed. Markus--- On Mon 10/17,

Hovsep:
The clear lenses are available on eBay. Those wheels look nice. I hope you
can get the exact offset needed so no spacers are required. I've lowered
with H&R and it's a nice ride but, much firmer than the stock MB springs.
Good luck with your projects.

Hovsep, I got mine at Importvision a few years back. You can see them
here:
http://www.importvision.com/index.php?display=show_part.php&PartMake=Mer
cedes&select_PartType=Corner%20Lights Dick is correct, you can also find
them on ebay. When I bought mine, they weren't as popular yet and harder to
find. Word of caution - make sure you get the ones for the COUPE, not
sedan. They are NOT interchangeable, and the ones for the sedan are
cheaper, so don't accidentally buy those. Importvision also sells rear
lenses that you can get to match whatever you like on the fronts, such as
smoked, clear, etc. Good luck,Markus--- On Mon 10/17, Hovsep Dovlatian <

What color is your car? Those wheels look a bit much for me, but I think
they could work on a black car. Then again, I'm not in SoCal so my taste
is going to be a lot different. I saw something one day that looked
really good that I never thought of: it was an SEC but it had the E430
sport wheels (the one with wide spokes, but not straight spokes, if
someone showed me a picture I could ID them).

Yes my car is black and I want to get the black rims
not the chrome ones. Go to the this web site and see
the black ones. Turn off your pop-up blocker or you
wont see it. They are real nice. Ive seen them up

Cal Young

Calvin A.Young
