[W126 Coupe] reason for MB horn sound?

Does anybody know if there is a rhyme or reason to the fact that MB used such a shrill horn sound? I recently had a close encounter with two deer (if they didn't move at the last second I would have hit them at 40mph, not gonna say how fast I was going when I first saw them, but they did bolt at the last second and I steered between them with a foot to spare on each side), and I don't doubt I encouraged them to move by honking my 3-trumpet (each with it's own compressor...loud as hell) air horns, but it was too close for comfort and I wonder if I would have been better off with the stock horn. It seems like everything on this car has a reason, is there a reason for the horn sounding how it does?
Thanks,
Richard
