What do you mean by pulling the ignition resistor? Do you mean taking
the resistor out and instead using regular plug wires and resistor
plugs?

Richard

I ran into this Very issue last time I was at the dyno.. I wasn't
getting the numbers that I thought I should and after checking out the
linkage it was found that the last leg leading to the lower butterfly
wasn't fully extending.

If you look at the scan of my run (link below) you will notice rather
large 'bump' in the HP/TQ curves @ 3700RPM..this was the fellow at the
dyno pulling the linkage the remainder of the way open.

The two HP/TQ figures are w/ and w/o moving the linkage to it's full
stop.

I safety wired the spring loaded piece of the linkage until a few weeks
ago when I bought the arm from the SL (noted this piece was different
when looking at my 86 560SL).

B/w this and pulling the ignition resistor I think quite a few of you
will find some Free HP!
