Hi Bob:
Are the seats sagging or are they really stiff? If they are just sagging on the corners when you sit in the car, MB makes a repair kit that works well consisting of two tight cell foam tubes that simply nest up under the seat pad and frame in each seat corner. Cost is $20 per seat from local MB dealer.
If the seat bottoms are just worn to the point where they are really hard, you'll need to lift the leather and pads to see if the springs are the real problem. I've done a pad repair and added a thin tight cell foam pad. I've had to top stitch a few seams that lifted on the seat bottom as well.
So, if it's just a weak corner resulting in a sag (i.e., when you sit you feel like you are rolling) use the MB kit. Any other complaint I'd say take it apart and make the needed fixes.
If you need the part #'s for the sag kit, let me know and I'll try and locate them. The local MB dealer said they never would have found the kit without the part number as they had never heard of it until I showed up with the part #'s.
Regards,
Dick
