I seem to remember writing yesterday that you can obtain a good 50
miles from when the reserve light flickers on. Did you not read my
note from yesterday?

I know this from experience because I have made it a habit on every
Benz I own, to purposely run it out of gas to see how accurate the
light actually is. (you record miles driven from the point that the
light is steadily on until it runs out of gas, knowing the amount of
reserve fuel specc'd for the car; this gives an idea of the accuracy
of the fuel gauge in the critical "lower quadrant" area if you know
what I mean).

In reality you can get 60+ miles from when the light actually
flickers on (sometimes it comes on early if you are on an incline,
etc.) but I characterize it as a "reliable 50 miles" because this is
achievable.

If you think about it, this is logical as the 560SEC gets 14-15 miles
per US gallon. And my experience with Benzes has been that there is
always a bit more fuel in the tank even above and beyond the reserve,
perhaps a quart or two in the bottom of the tank.
