Hi Bellamy:

I agree with the use of a pressure bleeder but, I have found that the pressure needs to be higher to get the fluid moving with ABS systems.  And yes if those caps are aged they will be dry and have small cracks which is why if higher pressure is needed those caps should just be replaced as a matter or course.
