My original e-mail did subject appeared on the list but i did not see the
text so here it is again.
I have decided to partially repair the system myself, after the mobile A/C
"Bandit"ripped me off and did a crappy job.
The hose that enters the bulkhead with the half "u" bracket had not been
replaced with the correct barrier hose for a R134a Conversion .
The original hose had swollen badly and I suspect was a cause of
leakage. He had wrapped some black cork insulation around the steel lower
pipe which had melted from exhaust heat and was sagging down.
I have replaced all the "o" rings with the green type which I am
informed are the best for R134a.
I do have a few questions for the group.
1/ The bracket that holds the steel tube on the back of the power
steering pump,I have the "L" piece but the clamp part is missing, can anyone
describe what it looks like?
2/ What is the best insulation for that section of pipe close to the
exhaust?
3/ The large nuts that are on both ends of the pipe what would be the
torque figures?
4/ The two steel pipe connection to the Nippondenso compressor has one
Allen screw in the centre and "o" rings left & right
one side has the pipe extended(male) the other side has grooves in
the flange and compressor where the "o" rings sit.
The two I ("o" rings )removed where both the same size and yet the male
side is not recessed in the flange causing it to not sit flat when the
Allen screw is tightened.
Sorry guys I know that's a lot of questions but I want to the best job I
can and then just get the car pressure tested, purged and regassed.Any advise
gratefully appreciated
Kind
