OK, I need about 8 or 10 opinions on this and I'm sure I'll get them all
here!
While installing new spark plugs to try to cure a low-speed miss (1991
560SEC, 98,000 miles), I also measured the resistance of the spark plug
wires. One was about 1 kilohm, a couple were about 2 k, a couple were
about 4 k, one was 12 k and and at least two were infinite (open
circuit). Sounds suspicious to me!
The distributor rotor is about 1200 ohms center-to-tip, and each spark
plug post around the distributor cap is about 1000 ohms.
1) What do you think the nominal resistance is of a "good" original
Bosch spark plug wire?
2) What is the current favorite for replacements (stock engine and
ignition)?
3) Do the advance weights in the stock distributor have only one spring?
Thanks!
