I simply could not afford this car if it cost that much to maintain it.

Of course, I do 90% of my own work.
I buy a lot of parts from Rusty, etc., w/ a few from the local dealer, whose
parts dept. is great.
Most parts are crazy cheap for the quality they are. The thing about an SEC
is it is so repairable. The bolts all work!

Mark Reimers said: "I averaged about $1,200 per year in maintenance and
repair/upgrades."

I think these later comments are more inline with what one should expect.
Drive the car 12 to 15K a year and stay on top of the maintenance for all
systems spending 1 to 1.5K per year. This is for a car being used by an
owner who does his own work and shops around for the parts.
