That too. Even though this is an SEC group I get more and better information about my SE here than anywhere else.

I'm hurt, you mean it's not because our information is more reliable?

Because I get all the free advice I need here :-p
I think I've got everything sorted. I'll stick with the current wiring for
the current speakers because of the ohm issue, and when I change the
speakers I'll change the wiring and hook everything straight into the head
unit. I now know what raceway Dick is talking about so I know how everything
should be wired up (I've dealt with the raceway before, just didn't know
that's what it was called. I guess I'll use monster cable m-series for the
wires when I do rewire/respeaker since while that may be overkill, like
everyone says you're only as good as your weakest link, and wiring is fairly
cheap so might as well make sure that's not your weakest link, and I'll go
with alpine sps-080a in the front and alpine sps-460a in the rear since
after doing my measurements I've found that will be the best combination of
sound and installation ease.

Nearly all new car audio/CD receivers have their own fader.
An audio installer told me that when you use the MB fader with a new
receiver, you will loose at least 50% of the power.
That means if you have a system with 4x25 Watt, you get only approx. 12.5
watt per channel.
Why do not you check out some local installers and start asking questions.
