[W126 Coupe] Cost of Ownership

I used to get 11 mpg with the 3.27 and hard driving (now 15-17 with 2.47 and
light foot). Also, I the oil (lubromoly) I use costs about $80 a change,
and I change the fluid almost religiously at 3000. I also included an A/C
flush, and all fluids flush as I consider those regular maintenance (which
was done at a local service shop). I did mistakenly include my transmission
exchange (1400) which I guess is part of unplanned for repairs rather than
regular maintenance. Not sure where the rest of the money went...mostly in
parts I guess.

At 18MPG that would be 833 gallons for 15 thousand miles.
At an average of $1.75 per gallon that would be $1458 for gas.
So you have spent over $6000 in maintenance in the past 15,000 miles?
Plus the additional $4200 for repairs and major services.
Is this regular maintenance or was major work done in this period
(engine/tranny rebuild?)
I am interested in the cost of properly maintaining these cars so that
major rebuilds can be forestalled. (Gives me time to save up for that!)
Is this work being done by a dealer?
