Tom,

I know a little bit about accounting, but I don't think the issue is 
accounting related.

Converting the DM prices to USD, all you need is the excahnge rate at the 
time the price list was valid. If I remember correctly it was the USD was 
close to 2 DM (1.80ish).
But, again, pricing in the US market has little relation to the list price 
in Germany as the US cars came with a different engine, headlamps and had 
more optional (Germany) equipment as standard.

Pricing is always a function of what the market is willing to bear.
