[W126 Coupe] grill screen and routing wire from engine bay

I was thinking, seeing as how the grill screen only costs about $21 from Rusty (for an SE), and that it looks like a good place for laser jammers would be the lower corners of the grill screen, are the replacement screens built like the original screens (i.e. should I stick the original grill screen in storage and make the cutouts in a new screen since they don't make them like they used to)? Would I distrupt airflow at all by placing 4" W x 2" deep x 0.5" tall tranceiver in the lower corners of the grill screen? Also, someone once mentioned there is a hole in the firewall for routing wires that goes straight into behind the ashtray...where is this hole?
