Another shot in the dark - major ground cable from the engine to the chassis
loose/corroded?? Try a jumper cable from a bolt in the block to something on
the frame and see if that lets the car start.

Well guys I had the absolute weird problem today on my 83 380 SEC. Car's
rpms drop to zero and car stalls. Car won't start, just clicks and nothing.
Wait 10 minutes, car restarts and drives fine. five miles down the road,
same result. RPM gage is jumping around 2000 rpm but engine is doing that.
Car radio goes off and on. Using safety flashers when rpms are dropping
causes car to die faster. I have never seen anyting like this. Meanwhile, I
still have the hard start problem after car is warmed up. Any suggestions.
To Mike and Dick, thanks a bunch on the pressure brake bleeder info. Works
like a charm on the 86. I could use some help on getting the bearing races
out of the rotors. Is there a special tool for this? Can't get either race
out using a screwdriver and hammer. First time to change an MB, never an
issue with other makes.

Duracool, works great, 3 years now with no problem. Charged and topped up 8
cars last year and about 7 so far this year.
Larger molecules, lower head pressures, reasonably priced, no licences
required, Use less. Direct top up for r134, r12 systems should be evacuated,
before charged with Duracool. I get great technical support, and get to talk
to real live technicians.
EDUCATE yourself before using, you DO NOT use the same amount as R134, etc.
You CAN'T rely on the sight glass, If you fill until all the bubbles are
gone, you are overfilled. Need any other help, let me know. Iain

Ned,
No I do not... I checked with a source I got my spacers from,
Performance Products, and they no longer deal with H&R as it's been
taking too long to get the spacers from them for Mercedes.
Although the ones I got were 15mm hub-centric spacers. These will work
with simply longer bolts, i.e. 55mm shaft length. When you get into
anything over a 20mm spacer, one should use the type where the spacer
bolts to the hub first and then the standard wheel bolts are used to
bolt the wheel to the spacer.
Someone from the group also mentioned a spacer manufacturer from
Australia that makes excellent quality spacers. I can't seem to find the
link for that.
Here is an H&R link...

Hey everyone!
I have an '89 560SEC which is probably in 8 outta 10 condition. It has 167
000 miles. It has a reasonably newish transmission ($4200)...newish timing
chain, valve seals, etc etc etc.
I paid $17,500 (Canadian) 2 1/2 years ago, and spent upwards of $10,000
(Canadian).
It hasn't been driven in over 9 months.
Now it HAS to go....$5000 (CAD) or $4100(US)....price is FIRM!
drop me a note and I'll send you a bunch of pics.

That's what's in my system. Works well, but when the temperature starts to
get into the mid 90's and higher, I do find my cooling at idle to not be
optimal (but still, it's cool, just not cold). Just moving a tiny bit
alleviates this.

I just got done installing white gauge face for my 89 560sec but now my oil
pressure gauge doesn't work. I installed the needle right where it was but
now when I turn the motor on, it is pegged beyond level 3 and stays there.
What did I do wrong?

With the real ICM now removed I can still have 650 at idle (somestimes) and
1500 when I unplug the 2 pin from the air slide valve. Yes, temporary
replacement of all unit's
will narrow it down but before that I need to find and check the throttle
switch. Here again its position and type is different on the 500 euro.

Jim;
In my cars the cruise module is bolted up beside/under the steering column.
(It is aluminum and longer than the idle speed) It is screwed to a bracket
with 2 phillip screws and in this case it is easier to remove the bracket
(one bolt) than try to get the screws. The idle speed box has two mounting
screws and I imagine that your situation is the same.
If you have no way to actually test anything, and an intermittent problem is
difficult even if you have test equipment, sometimes substitution with a
known good component is the easiest way. Of course, in this case you can use
either component. Your valve at the air intake is easier to install, plus I
believe the valve (part number) is more common. (000 141 12 25 in my case)
If you are lucky and can borrow a known good valve, switch with yours, and
if the sudden high idle problem still occurs, you know the culprit is the
ICM.
Snow? That's nice. I'm very happy for you.

Does anyone have a nice explanation to link me to or to forward me of how to

I had it all in chronological order on my old computer.....which is now a
