[W126 Coupe] EXH TEMP Light

The Exhaust Temperature warning light has started to come on in my 1989 Euro
560SEC.  It tends to come on when the car is started and stays on
intermittently until it's at operating temperature.  It did not stay on
previously once the engine had started.  The car has done 93,000 km (60,000
miles).  Any thoughts?  Also, what is the light telling me?  What is the
purpose of the light?
