shift the transmission into first and see if it does the same thing. Many transmissions share the same planetary set between first and reverse., also change the oil and filter.

If the tranny is original you have had more than a good run out of it - Rob

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Transmission in reverse help!
Hi all,
Lately, I'm experiencing a delay (up to 30sec) when I put it in reverse before the car moves. Seems like the reverse gear is not catching. I don't have any problems in the drive mode. The gears are switching normally. It's only in reverse. I've also checked and changed the transmission fluid. It was fine.
I've tried searching the archives and all the information of a bad transmission was in the drive mode. Any experiences with this?
Thanks,
Scott
