[W126 Coupe] Radio cuts out when playing loud

Richard, If you don't have a multi-meter, get one. You measure the voltage by touching the black lead/wire from the VM to the negative battery post, and the red lead/wire from the VM to the positive battery post, while the car is running/idling. At idle should be around 14-14.5. Then have someone do a few things to create a load - turn on the lights, rev the engine, turn on the radio, etc and see what the reading is. Should slightly drop into the 13's I think but then come back up. Not sure about the regulator versus rebuilding the whole alternator/getting a new one. alternator?Thanks,Richard________________________________From: mbcoupes-bounces at mbcoupes.com on behalf of Dan LandissSent: Wed 7/27/2005 7:15 PMTo: Mercedes Coupes Mailing ListsSubject: Re: [W126 Coupe] Radio cuts out when playing loudShayegan, Richard wrote:>How can I check for myself if the voltage regulator is bad?> >Should charge 14 - 14.5 volts at 2000 RPM, lights off.
