[W126 Coupe] Radio cuts out when playing loud

How are these for stupid questions:
where do I measure the voltage at?
so if it doesn't charge 14-14.5, does that indicate the voltage regulator or the alternator?

Should charge 14 - 14.5 volts at 2000 RPM, lights off. Turn lights on,
it will drop for an instant and then return.
