Go to your local NAPA Auto parts, and borrow their Ball Joint Press kit. The NAPAs in my area have a tool loan program, and have a ball joint press to loan. I have my own (almost identical to the one I bought), which I bought from the Mac Tool truck that comes to our shop (they run about $350.00, but I do this for a living, so it gets a lot of use). It looks like a giant C-clamp, and has an assortment of different cups and receivers to fit different size ball joints. It also will press wheel bearings on front drive cars in and out. Best of all, it can be done on the car (FWD bearings, too), usually takes about an hour, to an hour and a half, to do both sides. Makes a PITA job a breeze.

                        Later,

> It looks like I will probably have to go to the dealer or MB shop to get them pressed in, but I was wondering if anyone else has done it without going that route or the $300 MB tool.
