Greetings, All-----------
I've searched the archives, and I think I have a question that has not been
asked before. I have a set of Lorinser RS90 wheels in 17x8 size, ET22, which I
will use on our 1985 500SEC (Euro). I purchased the wheels without lug
bolts, then found out the lug bolts must have the "ACORN" (conical) seat for the
bolt, rather than the "RADIUS" (spherical) seat found on the OEM wheels. In any
case, the overall bolt length will be different from stock, given the
increased thickness of the wheels compared to the 1985 OEM aluminum wheels.
Speaking to a Lorinser distributor, it was suggested I use a bolt with 40mm
length (below the head). Since he was speaking from memory, I feel I should
verify this independently.
My questions:
1. What is a good (preferably East Coast US) source for 12x1.5 lug bolts
with the conical seat on the base of the bolt head?
2. To determine the required bolt length, it seems I once read a quote on
the number of revolutions the bolt should turn into the hub to satisfy the
factory specifications. Was that 8 or 9 turns? With 1.5-pitch threads, that would
give either 12 or 13.5 mm of penetration.
Thanks so much in advance! Jim Rothrock, Windermere, Florida
