[W126 Coupe] Headlamps

On my 420 SEL with stock US headlights, the entire wiring harness at the
bulb and headlamp melted with the higher wattage bulbs while waiting at a
stoplight.  My 560 SEC has had no problem with higher wattage bulbs
(probably because it's H4/euro).

I have been using H4 Bosch 100/55 for years.  (I believe standard is 60/55)
I have ended up with a new pair of 100/80.

 

Has anyone had a problem using that wattage?

 

I know that Peugeot headlight switches melt, but if you own a Peugeot,
melting headlight switches are likely the least of your problems.
