    I lowered the SEC 2-3 years ago and fitted a set of 18X8.5 with 245X40 tires.  Yesterday I changed this set-up to a second set of rims and tires I recently purchased.  I am now running 10 inch wide X 18 on the rear.  The extra width and the change in wheel offset have resulted in a rub under certain conditions where the outer edge of the tire comes into contact with the horizontal metal lip just up and inside the rear fender.  My fender lip sits below the height of the tire and you can not fit a pencil in there right now without making contact with tire and fender.

    There is a process to roll this hidden horizontal lip upward away from the tire to buy a bit of room (I'll guess 1/2 to 3/4 inch of additional clearance) and that's what I am going to attempt to do today.  Once the lip is moved upward there is no further interference to worry about.

    Mike Ramay did a write-up and apparently rolled several member car's fenders on the annual MBCoupes meet back in 2003 in Las Vegas.  So, he is the master on this subject.
