I still need to know how to get into that pillar hat houses the
seat-belt retractor. Any Ideas? Has anyone tried it before?

Have you tried the ususal suspects for used parts? You know:
- Rustys, MercedesDismantelers, GermanStar, etc.
They should be able to help you out.
