Hi Guys,
I've been watching this thread all along and thought I might jump in
here to tell all of you that I just happen to work in a sheet metal shop.
Extruded aluminum, perforated steel and wire mesh are all at hand in
this shop, just as they are in shops all around the world.
If someone could give me the dimensions for the three pieces needed for
the SEC I could probably pick them up out of the scrap barrels for free.
The pieces for the SEC aren't very big but they are too small for a shop
to keep in case they can use them. It's called drop, and it goes out to
be recycled.
I don't recommend perforated as I don't think it will let enough air
through. I think we have a small steel wire mesh that will do, but it
will need painted. We also have extruded flattened aluminum, you could
polish this and then add a protectant coating to keep the shine.
If the pieces aren't to large I could send some to interested parties
for the cost of shipping.
The only challenges I see are:
There is likely to be a problem with the parts getting bent in the mail.
This stuff will cut you very quickly so beware if you work with it.
You have to wait for us to have some suitable drop. I'm not cutting
whole sheets for this.
So if anyone is interested and has the rectangular dimensions please
post them. I could pop the hood myself but it may be a few days before I
get around to it.
