YES, YES, YESSSSS !

I have JUST this minute picked up a 3.27 (yes 3.27) diff WITH the ABS pickup
and it's a DIRECT bolt-on for my early 1985 euro 500 SEC 'AMG'.

It's W126 part no. on the housing, and the 3.27 stamped clearly like a Rolex
! Under the 3.27 it has the letters ABS.This diff is a BIG mother, but
exactly what I was looking for.....should make some difference to my current
2.24 LSD ! And the beauty is it's a straight swap - take my old one out and
stick this one in - no other drama whatsoever (apart from the ratio
corrector for the speedo which is simple wiring). This diff is for the
earlier W126 subframe which is what my early 500SEC has of course...what a
lucky find. Must have gone through 60 different diffs at the breakers before
I found it....

As those who were following my thread yesterday will know, I was looking for
a 3.06 which is also a direct bolt-in, one that Barry Corno has done on his
380 SEC. But all the 3.06's I found didn't have the ABS and it would have
meant some serious dollar to get the internals transferred into my current
2.24 housing which has ABS.

And how much did it cost ? An amazing bargain....200 gbp. That's approx US
$390 at current ex rates ! Bargain of the century !

The diff is covered in muck and once I've cleaned I may discover some more
numbers and markings. I have the original AMG press pack for the 1981 - 1985
SEC's and it mentions the diffs available - 2.65, 2.82, 3.07, 3.27 and 3.47
! So this may be an original AMG diff. I'll be looking for the words 'GT'
somewhere...

I'll be doing some 0-60 times before and after fitment to evaluate the
benefits. But just looking at this diff is making me excited...it looks
scary !
