[W126 Coupe] Leaking rear window

Richard,

Why don'y you have the rear window done by your insurance company ?

A glass claim is a 'free' claim in the sense it does not impact your no
claims discount. There will be a glass excess/deductible of approx $80.....

The glass will be replaced if it is cracked or broken and in some cases even
it is delaminated (this depends on the quality of the insurance company and
the quality/condition of your car).

I had both front and rear windscreens replaced on insurance with rubber
seals and chrome surrounds replaced for just the cost of two deductibles,
i.e. $100. And it was all done by insurance approved glass fitters with
original MB items and glass fitted. Although I had to do them over two
seperate years as insurers will usually limit policies to only 1 free glass
claim a year. Both my screens were only delaminated, not even cracked or
broken. That's the hallmark of a quality insurer.

You should check your policy wording though - some lesser insurers limit
what they pay for glass replacement or audio theft to small amounts like
$250. This is obviously useless as a rear screen will cost rather more than
$250....this is why at renewal time, one should compare coverages of an
insurance company and not just premiums.
