[W126 Coupe] brake upgrades

I have a 1971/ 300 SEL 6.3 as well as my 420 SEC. The braking on the 420 is much better than on the 6.3. Does anyone know of an upgrade for 6.3 brakes? Perhaps something affordable could be done with the booster? 
To reinvent the wheel, I took my cracked one to a one man mag wheel repair shop to whom I was recommended & he refused to fit the steel band & told me to put the wheel in the bin. Looks like I must take it to a general machine shop where the people are not wheel experts & so have no preconceived ideas!!
