Slide button? You mean the thing for turning it on-off-on when doors
open, right? I just want to make sure we are talking about the same
overhead light and you don't break something thanks to my telling you it
just pops off.
Richard

Cheers. My slide button on the housing has marked the housing with some
grease and I want to dismantle it to clean it.

Cheers
Matt.

I forget on what side of the housing, but there's a notch there
somewhere to give you some space to pry it off. You just pop off one
side (a fingernail should provide enough force) and then once one side
is out it just drops out. Richard

How do you open the overhead lamp housing?

Cheers
Matt.

It works out fine, if you want you can clearance the housing just a
touch....I know some have drilled a tiny whole through the housing etc.

I don't really worry about it most of the time, If I'm parking in
Sketchyville I'll pull it down and bring it w/ me along w/ the head unit
etc..
