They used a setup like that in the US maybe twenty years ago. The cop had
the radar detector assembly on a tripod beside the patrol car and he'd toss
the cable out when he took off to get you. My buddy got the ticket from one
of those but his friends in the car a bit behind used a baseball bat on the
radar unit as they drove past. His friend said he almost broke his arm when
the bat hit the unit, but it was VERY worth it. Would have loved to see the
look on the cop's face when he went back to the wreckage of his radar unit.
