Well, I won't be going by car (but I know enough to not leave stuff visible in a car. My neighbor's car got broken into for the cell phone she left in the center console...plus I've traveled in Italy). I don't know when I'll be coming, but I figure I'll take the Amtrak up around 8am and take it back down around 8pm. Is there some day between now and the 6th that is better than the others to be in Philly? As far as what I'll photograph, I dunno, just good ol street photography (I guess stuff like this http://davidson.smugmug.com/Street%20Scenes though that's not a good example since the DC stuff is just what I would have time for during my lunch hours and the Italy stuff was rushed).
Richard

the down town area (from the Delaware river to the Schuylkill ( pronounced school kill ) 30 th St ,arch to south st ) the historical areas are quite safe
the historical area independence mall is always super secure ( 6 St to front market to walnut St )
HOWEVER never leave expensive equipment in your car( visible at all)
we get tourists that leave expensive equip on the back seat parked on a city street and than go in to a restaurant .... and there cars will get broken into
all equip must go in a locked trunk and car should be parked in a lot with an attendant
i dont know what you what to photograph however we have some of the most amazing houses in this city neighborhoods like east mt Germantown, east oak la ,overbrook farms and the grand chestnut hill ( old money) not to mention the main line ( its too bad its winter )
any way if you stay in the down town area i think you will be fine
when are you coming and what is your photographic subject matter?
