Question about Philly wasRE: [W126 Coupe] ill tell ya boutthese"happy " holidays

I don't really know where I intend to go, I just know that I've got 2 weeks of vacation left and I'm starting to get a little restless here at home. What are the good places to go to for street photography? Part of my issue is I basically have two sets of gear I would bring: my digital gear which is worth about $3500 or my film gear which is around $1000 (I run nikon and canon so different lenses and such) and I don't want to be mugged of $3500, but it's obviously preferred over my $1000 outfit (which looks to the common person on the street like a $300 outfit).

It really depends on where in Philly you intend to go; just like DC.

 

Downtown until around 9:00 - 11:00 PM is fine, surrounding neighborhoods a bit earlier.  Northeast not bad,, etc...  If you could tell us where you intend to go, we could tell you what you need to know.

 

I moved out in 85 but still go back for needs and wants and have no qualms about going just about anywhere at anytime.  Even my youngest feels the same way but his friends thinks he's nuts because it's "so dangerous".  Guess you gotta grow up there to understand.

Hey Mike, I might be coming up your way at some point for a day trip for a cheese steak and photography. During the day how dangerous is Philly? If you know DC, is it more like SE, NE, or the west side? I'm trying to figure how much of my camera gear I can bring without getting mugged.
