[W126 Coupe] What do you mean valve body

Cal,

Sounds like a great car with all the AMG modifications to the engine, the
suspension and the exterior.

As far as I know, you will not be able to get any of the pre-acquisition AMG
parts from a North American Mercedes-Benz dealership.

Barry Taylor bought the entire stock of AMG West when MB bought AMG back in
1993.

You can reach Barry at (510) 235-3990. Be warned that his parts are very
expensive and he has a reputation for being difficult to deal with.

I don’t know what kind of insurance coverage you have, but I fear that
unless you took out a special policy listing all the upgrades to your car
from a standard model, the insurance company will tell you that their
contract only covers a standard car.

Good luck.

Merry Christmas,

Axel

Matt,

I am not entirely sure about this at all. A few years back, I bought a AMG
West although I have no paperwork from them. What I do have is a list of
improments made to the car in an appraisal that was done in 1990.

On that appraisal they list many improvements including a Porsche 928
transmission valvetrain for $2850, limited slip differerential with 3.27
ratio for $3835, 4 piston AMG brake caliperes for $2855, aerodynamic
enhancements totaling $3000 (front air dam, side skirts, rear deck spoiler,
and rear skirt.

Performance enhancements valued at $14,500 were a 5.6 tuning kit consisting
of enlarged polished intake and exhaust manifolds, special AMG camshafts,
and ported and polished heads,

Car also has a sport exhaust system for $2025, tubbular exhaust headers for
$1925, high performance catyltic converter for $2025. Installation of all
lthis stuff cost $4750

Given the accident, I need to get an idea what this stuff costs today and
what impact the valvetrain has on the car. I had to replace the exhaust
system with a stock MB cause I forgot about the paperwork and just did not
know what I was doing and followed the advice of the mechanic who had no
idea what he was working on as well and advised putting the stock system
back on.

any help appreciated.

Cal

You mean valve body? The 928's use an Mercedes automatic.

How come you have a 928 valve body?

Hi,

A few months back I had M/B clean my cooling system in my 89 560 sec and
replace my anti freeze.
I still am getting (what I think) is a high motor temperature w hen sitting
in
stop and go traffic for any length of time.
Is 10-10:30 on my gauge normal in 30 degree outdoor temperature while stuck
in traffic?
Once I get moving it goes back down to 7:30. (I can't see the numbers on the

gauge without reading glasses, but I can see & remember where the needle is
while driving).
Even during the late summer with the a/c on it got to a point where I had to

shut the a/c and put the heat on as it went to 11:00 and it was 80 degrees
outside. (I hope that you can guess that I am using a wrist watch as a guide
to
relate where the needle is).
Thanks
Jack

Hi Cal,

RE: ³Changing the gasket will not stop the oil. You must change the head
gaskets, but they tell me in 40K miles or so leak is still back.²

I¹ve got to have this done on my 560 next spring. I don¹t look forward to
doing head gaskets as part of ³routine maintenance²! GRrrrrrr. I put 13K+
miles on the car in 2005. That whole idea sounds expensive!

Merry Christmas, Malcolm Lee
