I have a 4DR Diesel 02 Ford Excursion.  The best two out there that get the 
best fuel mileage are the ford and the Chevy duramax. You should see and avg 
of 20MPG.  I get 17 city 22 hwy. The new dodges from what I hear only get 
12mpg. There are no fuel rating for light trucks that are diesel because 
they don't have too.
The new fords (6.0L)  and Chevy motor are pretty quiet.  I have the 7.3L in 
mine and it rather noisy.  But I like it !
