[W126 Coupe] Air flow sensor?

How do you get the air flow sensor off the side of the "mixture control
unit"? It looks like there are crescent shaped covers over the screws on
each end with a little push clip in each crescent but that's a guess. The
manual cautions that each screw is a different length but nothing on the
actual removal.
