I don't think commercial/handheld GPS units will give you very accurate
acceleration data...  you'll probably need something like a gtech for
acceleration.

I'm looking for advice on GPS devices.

I'm not really looking for a big unit to use for navigation. I'll get that 
when I put in a new stereo/navigation/DVD screen system.

What I am looking is something to measure speed and acceleration to 
calibrate my speedometer and get some more accurate acceleration data.

I have looked at some hand-held Garmin units and the Vista and CS60 models 
look good.

Would appreciate any input.
