"IF you want the car to remain looking "original" (as it does now) I would
suggest to get a set of the OEM 15" standard Mercedes Benz wheels that the
car came with, and buy a set of 215/60R15 tires. The OEM are 205/65R15.
The 215/60R15 are a tiny bit wider, giving better handling without
sacrificing comfort and (if it is important to you) both the wheels and the
tires are likely quite a bit cheaper for the same (or better) quality.
Moreover the OD of the tire is almost exactly the same as the OEM tire so
your speedo and odometer read right
-Bellamy"
I agree with the above and the 215/60R15 are what I put on my car. Not only
does the speed work out mathematically but my Garmin GPS confirms the
speedometer is exactly on. I was fortunate and found a set of Centra chrome
wheels on eBay for a song. They were $5000. from the dealership in their
day.
