[W126 Coupe] 2 Questions

Aren't those wheels on it in the picture 15's? Either way, on 16's you should be running 225/55, that'd be a cheaper way to solve the rubbing I'd think than buying monoblocks. As far as the investment side of things, in the Washington, DC area all W126 chassis cars have increased in value (or at least average asking price in the Washington Post) by many thousands of dollars just in the past 4 years.

Subject: Re: [W126 Coupe] 2 Questions

First off, I'm new to the MB scene.  I purchased my 88 560 SEC in April from a retired gentleman in Keller Texas (between Ft. Worth and Dallas).  He said he just didn't have room for it anymore, so his loss.........(He had it on consignment at the car lot in the picture below.)  I live in Longview Texas, which is about 60 miles west of Shreveport, Louisiana.  The car has just over 140,000 miles on it and seems almost completely stock except for the radio and wheels and tires.  The car has MB 16" rims (late model) and larger than stock tires which seem to rub at all speeds.  More on that later.

I have loved this body style since I was in high school.  I just had to wait the 17 years for these cars to depreciate low enough (price wise) to get one.  While it is not my primary mode of transportation, I have a hard time leaving it at home every day.  (My wife thinks I'm nuts for having two vehicles, and while I explain it to her as an investment, I know that's not entirely true.) It is so much fun to drive and, as I'm sure everyone knows from their own experiences, it gets a ton of attention.

Back to the wheels and tires.......seems the rims that were put on my car are wider then stock and, as I said before, are taller then stock, thus the rubbing.  I'm thinking 235/60's.  While I have looked around for reasonably priced rims that would actually fit better, I haven't been successful.  Wouldn't mind going with 18" monoblocks if I could find some affordable.  Anyone with thoughts???

I've had it to around 105, but want to get the wheel/tire issue resolved before I open it up anymore.
