Iain, what's wrong with the relay (N16 I presume) anyway? If it's not
working the pumps, then the usual suspects are the "30" and "87" pins whose
base solder has a habit of cracking. My relay went AWOL and the cracks
weren't even visible to the naked eye. A loup revealed the cracks.
Resoldering fixed the problem.
Are you running a shunt between these pins now where you intend putting the
switch?

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Fuel Pumps and relay

Does anyone know if I will create any problems by jumping my fuel pump
relay with a switch while I'm waiting for a new relay? Also notice that the
new relays are 10 pin, as mine is 9 pin and one alignment (dummy) pin. Pins
match up is the same. Repaired this relay 3 years ago and no problems
since. Cannot find a obvious defect yet.

Also, does anyone know what the plate on the front of the viscous fan
does. Mine came off, broke the plastic cage and sliced 2 fins out of my
rad. It didn't stay lodged in the rad so "do I need a new plate?"

                    Iain Gunn
