Before replacing the "air slide control" - with the 2 black !!hoses. Test it by removing the 2 pin connector and give it 12v straight from the battery, that will close the valve and shut the engine and indicate it working. 3.5 volts will give you 600rpm as thats what the idle control unit sends via that 2 pin plug. If that method works then the problem is the idle control unit or hopefully just a bad connection in that 2pin plug.

For the cost I would just replace it.
I tried cleaning mine and it worked for about a day before coming back again so I got a Bosch aftermarket unit and replaced it.
Matt.

Well here is a subject that has only been explored 15,000 times. Actually, I just need to know what to use in cleaning the air valve. I get a racing (1100-1300rpm) at times and if I wait a minute the racing drops to normal idle. When I pull the air valve connector while the car is racing and move the plug in and out a few times the racing drops to normal idle.
So, I am fairly confident it's this metal cylinder with two black hoses coming off of it at the front of the engine.
Do I just pull this outa there and juice it up with carb cleaner and replace or is there some other method???
Thank you,
Dick
